Jasmine Creed Meet Team 2

What’s your name and role at Blue Sky?

My name is Jasmine Creed, but most people call me Jas. I’m the Placements Administrator here at Blue Sky Fostering.

And if you’re happy to share – how old are you, and how long have you been with Blue Sky?

Of course! I’m 32, and this month actually marks four years exactly since I joined Blue Sky.

That’s a great milestone! So, what does being a Placements Administrator involve?

It’s quite a varied role. In a nutshell, I make sure that young people are placed with the right foster carers on our system, Charms, for both main and respite placements. I also manage IPAs (placement agreements) and oversee the planning of Staying Put arrangements. Basically, I help keep everything connected so that our young people are always in the right place, with the right support.

What attracted you to the role originally?

Before Blue Sky, I worked in dementia care as a Wellbeing Manager, supporting residents’ personal needs. It was very rewarding, but when COVID hit care homes it became extremely challenging and, to be honest, heartbreaking. I knew I needed something new - and I’m so glad I made the move.

Blue Sky came up and it felt like the perfect fit. During my degree I studied childhood and youth studies, so I already had an understanding and an interest in fostering, and the timing just felt right.

What’s your dream for the role now?

Honestly, I love what I do and can’t see myself doing anything else. I’d love to get out there more though - to meet some of our carers face-to-face, hear their stories, and let them know I’m a person they can come to. I’d like to be considered a friendly, supportive face that they know they can chat to.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

It has to be the people. Not just my immediate team, but everyone across Blue Sky Fostering - and of course, our amazing foster carers. Hearing the successes of our young people and knowing we’re all working toward the same goal is really inspiring. The passion here is infectious.

Has your impression of fostering changed since you started?

Definitely! My biggest realisation has been how much goes on behind the scenes. There are so many people in core services and other teams making sure everything runs smoothly, and everyone is so passionate about what they do. I didn’t realise how many different moving parts it takes to make fostering work - but it’s really impressive.

What’s been your highlight so far?

I’d say the connections - the people I get to talk to every day, and the sense of community here. That really stands out for me.

And outside of work - what do you enjoy?

I love music and I grew up in a musical household so have quite a varied taste! My main love is 50s/60s – Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Beatles. I also a big fan of The Cure. I love musical theatre and dance too.

Otherwise, you will find me spending quality time with my husband, family, and friends, going for walks in the forest or on the beach, or curling up with a good book. I also love an afternoon nap – if I can sneak one in at 2pm, that’s perfection!

Are you more of a cat or dog person?

I think I’d have to say cat person - they’re independent, sassy, and I love that about them.

What are you looking forward to this year?

Getting to know my colleagues and our foster carers even better, and continuing to do the work I love.

What separates Blue Sky from other fostering agencies, in your view?

For me, it’s our values. Everyone here truly lives and breathes them - I’ve never met anyone at Blue Sky who doesn’t. This is honestly the best place I’ve ever worked. The passion here motivates you to do your best, and that makes Blue Sky really stand out.
